Referencing, Citing, and Structuring Bibliographies

A beginners' guide to referencing and bibliographies.

EndNote and LaTeX

Although it is not possible to use the Cite While you Write function with EndNote, it's possible to use EndNote to store references and then export a BibTEX file to work in LaTEX. This will be a standalone file, and won't update automatically. When new references are added to EndNote, you'll need to export the file again.

  1. From the File menu, select Export.
  2. Select the same folder as your LaTEX file.
  3. Choose a name (with no spaces) and add the .bib extension.
  4. Choose Text File as the file type.
  5. Under Output Style, select BibTEX Export.
  6. Select Save.
