Library Information and Digital Skills Framework: Sharing

As information sharing becomes increasingly digitised, it is important to understand how we communicate and share information, whether this is personal or research information. Understanding what we share, where we share it, and what ethical and legal considerations come with this can help learners manage their information outputs more mindfully.

Learners will be able to:

  • Map and understand their digital footprint
  • Make informed decisions on how and where they share information
  • Understand copyright law around information sharing and ownership
  • Make informed decisions on publication routes
  • Recognise different audiences and how to communicate with them
  • Curate their digital profile to enhance employability
  • Identify privacy and copyright issues when using AI tools

Session examples:

Learners map which platforms and apps collect and share information about them to understand how to better manage their digital footprint.

Learners identify different methods of promoting their professional profile and research.

Learners recognise what information can be legally and ethically shared in the context of research funding and copyright restrictions.
