Information and digital skills framework graphic illustrating 5 themes: transition, discovering, evaluating, referencing and sharing.

The Information and Digital Skills Framework outlines Library Service expertise in information and digital literacy skills teaching. The intended audience for this framework is University colleagues, though the framework is visible and accessible to everyone.

Skills requirements will vary depending on the academic subject, but there are core information and digital skills that go beyond academic development. This framework provides some examples of how these skills can be incorporated into the University’s curriculum.

All the skills and outcomes discussed in the framework cannot be implemented in a single teaching session. Ideally, there should be constructive alignment of skills development to learning outcomes and the assessments, with skills taught at the point of need and developed throughout a programme of study to ensure student success.

The information and digital skills framework is divided into five key areas:

Use the links above or the menu bar at the top of the page to find out more about each of these strands and what a School-specific session in this area looks like.
