Help Accessing Resources: Databases

What is a database?

A database is a searchable electronic index of reliable resources. Databases provide access to different types of resources depending on the subject or stype of database it is. Databases can collect academic journals, newspapers, multimedia, or company data.

The Library provides access to many of these databases through a paid subscription, so you will need to log in (especially if you are off campus and not using the VPN) to access these resources.

You can find the complete list of databases you have access to at Royal Holloway on the Databases A-Z list. You can filter by subject area to find the databases most relevant to you. You can also see a subject breakdown of databases through your library subject guide.

Remember: if you need help at any time, please either use the LiveChat (found on the right hand side of the screen) or contact your Teaching and Engagement Librarian, who is happy to help you navigate the wonderful world of databases!
