Access for All: Accessing Resources

Accessing Physical Resources

For students registered with the Disability and Neurodiversity Service we have a range of services available to help you access the physical collections, these include:

  • Being able to borrow items for an extended period
    • 1-week loans extended to 3 weeks
    • 3-week loans extended to 6 weeks
  • Physical item retrieval for students registered with the Disability and Neurodiversity Team.

Accessible Copies

The library can provide content in alternative and accessible forms to meet any additional needs specified by staff and students. For example if a resource is only available in print, we can try and source this in an electronic format so it can be read by screen readers.

To find out more about this service visit our Accessible Copies page on the student intranet, or email LibraryAccessibility@rhul.ac.uk

Accessing Online Resources

Many of our online resources have a number of accessibility features that you can use. Features might include:

  • Adjustable text size
  • Adjustable contrasts
  • Screen reader compatibility and read aloud options
  • Keyboard navigation
  • Closed captions and transcripts for multimedia resources

Most online resources will have help pages with more information on these features, or can contact your Teaching and Engagement Librarian.

The video below details some of the accessibility features available on our ebooks.

Help and Support

The library's Moodle page has lots of great resources to help you improve your searching skills to find quality information more efficiently. You will also find details on evaluating information and referencing support.

The Library's YouTube channel also has a number of short videos on how to use the library and its resources and services in more detail.
