When using Royal Holloway's Library Resources A - Z list, you will notice that some of the databases say via Senate House and have a symbol next to the name. These are databases that need to be authenticated with your Senate House Library credentials.
Please note that you may not be able to access Senate House Library (SHL) resources from the A - Z at the present time. This is due to a change in authentication at SHL. Please follow the joining intructions. Once you've joined, you will be able to access some databases via the SHL catalogue. Search by the name of the database. If it doesn't immediately appear, try refining your results to Databases under Resource Type.
Examples are provided below for details on accessing EBSCO and ProQuest databases.
Please contact your Teaching and Engagement Librarian if you are unable to find the database you need.
Not all databases are listed on SHL's catalogue.
1. If the database you are looking for is owned by EBSCO (e.g. PsycInfo, MLA International Bibliography), search for EBSCO and filter to Databases under Resource Type, as shown below.

3. Once in the database, click on the name link to change to a different one.
4. Then select the database you want.
Not all databases are listed on SHL's catalogue.
1. If the database you are looking for is owned by ProQuest (e.g. ABI/INFORM, Historical Newspapers), search for EBSCO and filter to Databases under Resource Type, as shown below.
2. Select any database.
3. Select Change Databases.
4. Choose the database you want to use.
We only include some of Senate House Library's resources on our our A - Z list. To view the full list, visit SHL's own A - Z Databases list.
Some databases aren't available for our staff and students to access off-site. You can check this by clicking "Permitted uses for this database" under the database description and looking at the information for University of London federation staff and students.
